At the start of this week I sent the final draft of The Hansei Journal to the printers. I used a local company called Astute, they are based in Forfar so it was ideal for communication purposes. I have decided to print all of the inner pages on 125 gsm paper and the front and back covers are printed on 350 gsm silk with an acetate cover for a professional finish. They are going to leave the book flat packed with no binding as I am going to stab stitch it myself. Therefore, I had to prep and paint the wood in the mean time.
I then carried on filling gaps in the project booklet, spell checking it and improving on the layout and overall aesthetic. At this stage the whole booklet was complete expect from the hero images and final packaging which are in my plans to do next week anyway. I feel comfortable in terms of timings, because I have worked extremely hard to be at the stage I am at.
Then I filmed the 1 minute video, I changed my idea entirely. I began filming the scenes how I described in the previous blog, but I thought to myself if I film someone achieving their goals by fist pumping the air or dealing with emotions by hugging another person it would be too cheesy. Therefore, I decided to go with a more subtle approach. I then drafted a voice over which I thought was suitable:
The Hansei Journal is a booklet with the aim to improve a person’s mental mind set and encourage them to gain the most out of life. This book can be used over a 26-week period, over this time the user will have opportunity to effectively plan their time, journal their thoughts, engage in mindfulness exercises and learn 26 new cognitive behavioural therapy techniques which can then be applied to any future scenario they may come across. This therapy will teach the user new coping strategies for difficult situations, set themselves achievable goals, face their fears and help to come to terms with one’s emotions to help gain a better quality of life.
I then began to collate all of the separate videos and continued to edit it throughout the week. Below is the finished article:
