I set myself the deadline of May 3rd for sending the final draft to the printers, therefore, this week I spent a lot of time double and triple checking the InDesign file of The Hansei Journal. So that took up a lot of time but I wanted it sent away with plenty time before the final hand in, as I am replying on a third party to produce the booklet.
I also had to create another prototype for the packaging. I tried multiple styles and materials to try find the perfect combination as you can see below:
I continued to add content to the project booklet this week as well, mainly the storyboard which I created on illustrator:
Finally, I wrote the 200 word statement which is necessary for the final hand in:
A current mental health crisis is among us and the suicide rate increasing rapidly. The Hansei Journal is a tool which can either act as a prevention tool for mental health deterioration or a prolonged method of recovery for existing mental health issues. Throughout a six-month time frame, the user of the journal will learn 26 new cognitive and behavioural skills from medically proven therapy techniques, which can then be applied to any future scenario they may come across. This engaging book will give the user opportunity to become more organised in the planning section, become in touch with their emotions if they choose to journal their feelings and become mindful with the weekly activities. Within its calming environment, The Hansei Journal aims to give the user a better quality of life by helping them face fears, structure their goals and learn new coping strategies for stressful situations. The book is lightweight but durable as well as coming with a protective carrier for on the go use. The Hansei Journal aims to act as a teacher and a friend in the fight to improve the nations overall wellbeing.
